RAM Rating Services Berhad (RAM Ratings) held its highly anticipated RAM League Awards on 24 February 2025, an annual event to honour contributors of corporate bond and sukuk issuances rated by the agency. In 2024, RAM Ratings rated 22 issues (aggregating RM38.19 billion) out of a total 33 rated corporate bond and sukuk issues (amounting to RM68.94 billion).
Taking place at Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar, The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur, the Awards brought together top financial institutions (FIs) and inaugural issuers for an afternoon of celebration. A total of 17 awards were presented in four categories dedicated to FIs.
In conjunction with RAM’s 35th anniversary, six issuers received the RAM Blueprint Awards, which acknowledge new issuers for distinctive, ground-breaking bond/sukuk deals in their respective industries during the year. The recipients are Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad, Keyfield International Berhad, Avaland Berhad, Johor Plantations Group Berhad, Hektar Real Estate Investment Trust and AME Elite Consortium Berhad.
Maybank Investment Bank Berhad emerged as the winner in all four FI award categories, in terms of number of bond and sukuk issues as well as bond and sukuk programme value.
CIMB Investment Bank Berhad had another strong year, securing second place in all categories. Other notable winners include Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad which took three awards and AmInvestment Bank Berhad, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad and Public Investment Bank Berhad which each bagged two awards.
RAM Ratings chief executive, Julie Ng, said: “I would like to congratulate all award recipients for their achievements and contribution to the capital market. Last year was a vibrant and strong one for the rated bond and sukuk market and the pipeline is expected to remain positive in 2025. RAM Ratings would not have been able to achieve this without the support and trust of the entire ecosystem including issuers, lead arrangers, lead managers, facility agents, etc.”
“Having played a pivotal role in the country’s capital market as Malaysia’s pioneer credit rating agency, we are committed to maintain our hallmark of excellent services and will continue to support the market’s development, including in sustainability,” she added.
About RAM League Awards
The RAM League Awards recognise leading financial institutions (FIs) that made outstanding contributions to the Malaysian bond and sukuk market in a particular year. The RLA acknowledges the work of the most influential and outstanding FIs that are thought leaders, innovators and visionaries in the Malaysian bond and sukuk market.
The RAM League Tables rank Fis by the value and number of deals for all RAM-rated bonds for the year. Credit is given to the entire debt programme regardless of the type of instrument, as long as the debt was issued during the period, either in full or in part.
