RAM Sustainability assigns Silver3 Sustainability Rating to Tanah Makmur Berhad

RAM Sustainability Sdn Bhd (RAM Sustainability) has assigned a Silver₃ (S₃) Sustainability Rating to Tanah Makmur Berhad (TMB or the Group). 

TMB is principally involved in property development, particularly the development of the Kota Sultan Ahmad Shah (KotaSAS) township in Kuantan, Pahang. In the agribusiness sector, TMB manages and operates pineapple and durian plantations, producing and distributing pineapple products. RAM Sustainability is of the view that the Group is in the nascent stages of its sustainability journey. Further implementation of environmental management measures, particularly carbon management, and sustainability governance are required to bolster its rating.

Property development and agribusiness typically require significant land use change, which results in biodiversity and landform loss, and can have a significant impact on climate change and water security. TMB has established a Group Sustainability Policy, Group Biodiversity Protection, Conservation and Environmental Care Policy, and Group Responsible Product and Supply Chain Policy which address all relevant environmental themes for its two main business segments. 

The S₃ rating also considers TMB’s commitment to providing quality products and services to the market, supported by the certifications its subsidiaries hold such as the ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System certifications of KotaSAS Sdn Bhd and Rompin Integrated Pineapple Industries Sdn Bhd (RIPI). RIPI’s processes and products also carry ISO 22000:2018 – Food Safety Management System, Malaysia Good Agricultural Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, HALAL and Kosher certifications. Similar product quality-related certifications will be pursued for TMB’s future durian products.
